Salsa Contest

RULES

There are no age or resident restrictions to enter. Cost is $5 per entry.

Each participant may enter one (1) entry in each category.  All Participants must register by 8/19 at 6 pm. Via email : themccannsfarm@gmail.com or in person at the farm market in Elk Twp, NJ


3  CATEGORIES:

Hot Salsa

Mild Salsa

Sweet/Fruity Salsa


Each entry should be prepared fresh in advance. All entries must be homemade by the registrant.


Each entry should consist of one (1) pint for judging and 1 pint for public tasting.  Entry should be presented for judging in a pint jar.


Entries must be checked in at registration table by 1:30 pm.  Judging will begin at 2.


Chips will be provided for judging.


Be sure to mark your containers with your name if you want it returned. It is your responsibility to pick up the container after the public tasting and it must be picked up that night unless other arrangements were made.


All entries may include the recipe on a 3x5 index card. Recipes may be published via website, newspaper, or cookbook.


Judging will be done by panel using the following criteria:

Appearance 1-10

Consistency 1-10

Flavor 1-20

Total Possible Points : 40


Awards – a winner will be selected in each of the three categories (Hot, Mild, Sweet/Fruity)

In addition to category winners, a People’s Choice Best in Show prize will also be awarded.
